All users are strongly encouraged to periodically delete old and unneeded files from their mailboxes. For all users, the following limits apply: Outgoing and incoming messages may not exceed 25 MB in size.

Several aspects of the operation of the Juilliard School are managed using Datatel’s Colleague Student Information System. It includes a Student Module that manages student record keeping and faculty assignments. A Human Resource module designed specifically for higher education. Colleague applicationa are used by (but not limited to,) Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, Human Resources, and the Registrars’ Office.

Raiser's Edge
The Juilliard School’s development operation is powered by Raiser’s Edge. Much more than just a storage place for donor information, Raiser's Edge is a complete fund-raising system that helps us communicate with our constituents and make better decisions through its powerful querying, analysis and reporting capabilities. It also includes the NetCommunity Alumni portal that allows Juilliard alumni to share information amongst themselves.

Wireless
Wireless Internet access (WiFi) is available in all areas of the main Juilliard building as well as in the Juilliard/SAB cafeteria and the public areas of the Willson Residence Hall in the Rose Building. See maps below for coverage @ 24 mbps.

Technology
802.11a/b/g using two separate networks – open access (TJSAirNet) and a secure (TJSsecure). Authentication for the secure wireless network is via the regular network credentials.

Security
To ensure that critical institutional data is kept secure, the following security measure will be implemented:

  • All Wi-Fi network traffic is segmented from regular network traffic via a VLAN

  • Only Juilliard Students, Staff and Faculty may use the wireless network. They will need to supply credentials to access the network.

  • Juilliard’s key institutional management applications like Colleague and Raiser’s Edge will be not be accessible via the Wi-Fi segment of the network.

ResNet
Each resident of Juilliard’s Meredith Wilson Residence Hall is provided with bundled hi-speed Internet and local telephone service. This is included as part of their dorm fee.
Users must provide their own equipment to use the service.

Remote Access
For those users who need it, full access to selected Juilliard resources is available via a Citrix Metaframe XP server. Other users may securely control their office desktop PCs via Microsoft Remote Desktop tool and a VPN connection. There is also other web-based access to selected enterprise applications.

Printing
Administrative users have full access to appropriate printing resources in their offices or work areas. A number of high-capacity printers some with color capabilities and special paper handling features are available. Faculty members may use the printers in either the Faculty lounge (Room 558) or the PC Computing labs.

All student-generated print output is processed through a Print Accounting system. At the beginning of each year, each student is granted a $50 allowance ($0.50 per color page printed). Black and white output is free. Students who use up their allocation must pay for additional pages.

AV Support
The IT Department maintains an inventory of AV equipment specifically LCD projectors, laptops and portable screens that it loans out for community use. Limited support is available for this equipment. Requests for AV equipment
MUST be made via the AV Portal (http:// av.juilliard.edu) as far in advance as possible to ensure availability. While we will do all we can to assist you, the Helpdesk cannot run your presentation for you and the expectation is that the equipment is provided on a self-serve basis.
