Computer Facilities

Computing Facilities Operated by the I.T. Department

In addition to PCs in administrative offices, Juilliard community members have access to computing facilities via the main PC Lab, 2 smaller PC Labs (one in the Rose residence Hall and the other in the Music Technology Center) and several kiosks around the building.

Main PC Lab (Room 248)
The main PC lab provides modern computing facilities via a total of 25 PCs and Macs plus an array of ancillary equipment. Access to these is limited to students, staff, and faculty and requires logon. Open 105 hours a week (8 a.m. – 11 p.m., 7 days a week), a card key is required to gain access at all times other than 9 a.m. – 7p.m. (Mon. – Fri.).

The Main PC Lab provides a range of services including:
  • Application support and advice from staff
  • Music Technology support
  • Counter sales and handouts - items such as blank CDs and DVDs
  • Printed output (duplex laser printers, and are managed by a Pharos print accounting system)
  • Scanners (main PC Lab)
  • Specialist facilities (e.g. music notation and sequencing applications)
  • Staffed approx. 60 hours per week

Music Technology Lab (Room 336)
The Juilliard Music Technology Center is housed in Room 336 and provides students with access to advanced music-making software and hardware, including notation and sequencing tools. Courses in music technology applications are taught here. A number of workstations in the Computer Lab provide the same basic resources as found as found in the Juilliard Music Technology Center.

Rose Building Satellite Lab
Students living in the residence hall in the Rose Building have access to a satellite lab with 6 PCs with a complement of Microsoft productivity applications installed on them. A printer is available, but users must provide their own paper. Access to these is limited to students and requires logon.

Public Access PCs (Kiosks)
The Juilliard School maintains several Mac-based Internet terminals in various locations around the main building for community use. They are currently configured with open-access (non-password protected).

I.T. Training Lab (Room 216)
A 10-seat, fully-equipped training facility for the delivery of I.T. application instructions.
